SMPS and DC power electronics design

We develop switching power supply and DC power stage for our customers' electronic device projects. We consider the supply design together with load behavior, measurement accuracy, mechanical volume and target usage conditions.

Your project, your product

Developed confidentially and delivered with source files.

We may work with a confidentiality agreement (NDA) before sharing technical details. At the end of the project, we deliver the source codes, design files and technical documents we have developed to you.

  • NDA before sharing technical information
  • Clear deliverables agreed at the outset
  • Source and technical files at the end of the project

VOMRO engineering approach

We do not design the power supply based on output voltage alone.

The input voltage range, continuous and instantaneous loads, initial power-up and acceptable ripple are defined together. A sensitive sensor circuit and a motor or modem do not have the same supply requirements. These differences are the initial inputs to the power architecture.

VOMRO assesses integration of ready-made power components and sections requiring custom circuitry according to project needs. No general promise of efficiency, power or durability is made before design objectives and validation scope are defined.

01

Conversion and power distribution architecture

Isolation requirements, the input-output relationship and the load profile determine the appropriate conversion approach. The sequencing of different supply rails and their interaction at startup are examined. Component limits, sourcing options and available board space are considered together to create a power distribution architecture suited to the application.

  • Input and output limits
  • Load transients and startup behaviour
02

PCB layout and thermal behavior

Switching current paths, feedback and sensitive signal placement are considered together. Component temperatures, copper areas and air conditions inside the enclosure affect the design. The measurement method is defined when assessing ripple and noise, and the power stage's effect on other board functions is examined on the prototype.

  • Current paths and feedback
  • Noise and temperature evaluation
03

Testing according to protection and intended use

Expected behavior in situations such as overload, short circuit and supply change is determined. In mains input designs, isolation, touch safety and related compliance requirements are also addressed. A working sample does not indicate that the final device has passed all safety tests; external verification and production control requirements are described in the project plan.

How it works

A clear process from start to delivery.

Not every project looks the same; however, the measurable requirement, controlled revision, and field verification steps remain unchanged.

Frequently asked questions

Before starting the project

The technical scope, deliverables and test plan are clarified together according to the requirements of your project.

Does every project require a custom power supply?

No. Existing modules can be considered if they meet the requirements. The decision to use a custom design depends on volume, load, cost and operating conditions.

Can prototype PCBs also be fabricated and assembled?

Prototype PCB fabrication and assembly can be planned for customer projects developed by VOMRO. This support is not offered as a standalone contract manufacturing service.

Are the design and source files provided at the end of the project?

Yes. The project's source code, design and technical files are delivered; the list is clarified at the outset. The work can be handled confidentially under an NDA.
